Kelly Maher is one of the most respected viticulturists in the Napa Valley. No–the world. (His other vineyard clients are located in Australia, Argentina, Chile, France and Brazil.) He’s also one hell of a good guy! He called us in Summer 09, telling us to check out this 4-acre Grenache block growing at 2,400 feet of Mt. Veeder (owned by Jim Paras).

It’s a long story, best told over a glass of wine, but we secured a long-term deal with Jim and are now making a Paras Vineyard designate Grenache, starting with the ‘09 vintage. How do we know it’ll rock? We have Kelly and his trusted dog, Elrey, making sure this stunning fruit is delivered to our cellar, year after year.
