Dr. David Gold (we call him “Doc”) arrived in St. Helena in 1990 from South Africa. Pretty exotic, we thought. He was searching Napa Valley for a location for his veterinarian practice when he stumbled upon a 4-acre parcel on Main Street in St. Helena.

Turns out, the property has these rich, alluvial soils—and with the advice of his good friend, Jim Regusci, Doc decided it would be a great place to grow grapes. That’s right: 2.5 acres of clone 337 Cabernet Sauvignon planted 101-14 rootstock—in Downtown St. Helena. Right next to the St. Helena Veterinary Hospital,
with its classic red barn backdrop and roosters everywhere.

Our first vintage of T-Vine Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Doc Gold Vineyard will be released in the Fall of 2010.
